Halifax Minister In Blossom

Halifax Minister In Blossom

Original painting mounted size 79 x 79 cm

£850

I have always loved the fact that we have so many blossom trees scattered around our town, particularly cherry trees. Who needs to go to Japan?

Available as a mounted print 20 x 20-inch £60 from Bankfield Museum and The Yorkshire Gallery and also 6 x 6-inch card from the Halifax Minster.

Organ Pipes At All Souls’ Church

Original painting mounted size 40 x 40 cm

£250

These pipes are in desperate need of repair and showcasing. They lie in wait on the floor in a corner of the church, after the organ was vandalized many years ago. The painted design and bright colours with the texture of the metal are just beautiful. All Soul’s Church was built by Colonel Akroyd for his mill workers and designed by Sir George Gilbert Scott.

Available as a mounted print 20 x 20- inch £60 and 6 x 6-inch card from Bankfield Museum and the Halifax Minster.

Snow View Of Halifax

Original painting mounted size 99 x 58 cm

On a walk one morning I caught this view from Claremount through the trees surrounding Bankfield Museum, very close to the view from my childhood home. The grey tones give the town a soft look.

Halifax Borough Market Clock

Original painting mounted size 79 x 79 cm

Our borough market in Halifax is a Victorian gem with the clock standing in the centre. The fairy lights ready for Christmas and the fading afternoon light through the many rooftop windows shows the warm glow from the ornate lamps.

Shibden Mill Inn

Original painting mounted size 52 x 52 cm

SOLD

Tucked away at the bottom of Shibden Valley the inn retains the old, crooked character of past times when doors were tiny for short people like me.

The original was sold but it is available as a 6 x6 inch card.

Piece Hall Winter

Original painting mounted size 35 x 35 cm

SOLD

The Piece Hall is unique in Britain, here in my home town. This image was used for a watercolour workshop in The Piece Hall.

Available as a 6 x 6 inch card.

Glimpse of Shibden

Original painting mounted size 75 x 58 cm

Shibden Hall inspired it’s own Shibden Collection of paintings and prints, putting Halifax on the map by Sally Wainwright and the TV series ‘Gentleman Jack’ telling the story of Anne Lister at a time of great change.

Lloyds of Halifax

Original painting mounted size 79 x 79 cm

Halifax is a great place to live when you have a love of architecture. Built as the original Rawsons bank, Lloyds now sits in this fantastic building. I have painting many aspects, including the glass ceiling.

Piece Hall Reflections

Original painting mounted size 58 x 75 cm

SOLD

The Piece Hall is so unique, growing up in Halifax it was a lively place to hang out, with busy markets with lawns to sit in the summer with friends. Since it reopened after extensive renovations in 2017 I have been involved giving workshops, painting live in the courtyard as part of the 1st anniversary celebrations on Yorkshire Day 2018 with a seven and a half foot watercolour and sold my work in the Yorkshire Gallery.

Available as mounted giclee prints 24 x 20 inch £100, 20 x 16 inch £60, 6 x 6 inch card and postcard at Bankfield Museum, The Yorkshire Gallery and the Design Shop at Dean Clough.

Snow Day at the Piece Hall

Original painting mounted size 58 x 75 cm

£560

A walk down into town on a snow day when everything appeared muffled I took a detour through Akroydon, Bankfield and All Souls’ Church then through the town covered in a dusting of white until I ended up at the Piece Hall. I almost had the place to myself, chilly but the warm welcome light from the shops and the promise of a hot drink.

Available as mounted prints 20 x 16 inch £60, 14 x 10 inch £45 and 6 x 6 inch card from Bankfield Museum and The Yorkshire Gallery in The Piece Hall.

Albany Arcade

Original painting mounted size 75 x 97 cm

SOLD

The Albany Arcade is an entrance to our own borough market with beautiful ornate gates. You can see the precinct towards our Town Hall and the cafe scene which our town is embracing.

Often confused with being in Paris, an image with a romantic nod to my home town seen through rose tinted nostaglia.

Available as mounted prints 24 x 20 inch £100, 20 x 16 inch £60, 6 x 6 inch card and postcard from Bankfield Museum and The Yorkshire Gallery in The Piece Hall.

Coal Drops

Original painting mounted size 79 x 97 cm

£600

The coal drops in Halifax are in a very poor state, they are a relic of the old railway system from the times of the Industrial Revolution. The Halifax Civic Trust and the local Victorian society keep a close eye and hope that funds may be there in the future to preserve them.

The Vestry
